Through the Sieve

If you feel inclined to listen to Young Dro after hearing the delightful hood/dance song, "Shoulder Lean", proceed with caution. I will let go of the fact that "Shoulder Lean" is more than a year old as it was a banger back in the fall of '05. Southern rapper's are plauged with this until they can comeback for a sophmore. All southern rap is unknown for years and then they get some clout. Yound Dro, part of T.I.'s off shoot G boy band group PSC, was summoned. He rose through ATL's ranks and gained steam earlier this year. His DJ Drama tape, Day One, is better than his actual album. But isn't this always the case with mixtapes being better than albums. As with Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Mike Jones and Chamilionaire, (all H-Townies, mind you) their first big drop is all old. You can really hear it too. Most of his material was taken from Day One and they throw on ATLers, T.I. and Slim Thug to supposedly add taste - ahem not a classy move. You'll find out quick that Dro, who in the spring souned like an artist on the come up, sounds very much the same throughout the record. Some tracks are ok, some just are a blur. You are not missing anything, as "Shoulder Lean" and "Rubberband Banks" are the only tracks that stand out. All the rest have similiar beats and rhymes that don't do anything to get you moving. And if you didn't notice it already he has the need to tell us the colors of the rainbow. Bitch, this ain't reading rainbow, stop telling me your candy drop is cinnamon or your 'price has watermelon insides. Once or twice was enough, but I know my colors, thank you very much. My Blazer look like apple juice, girl Shelly's look like great poupon, jays & t chartreuse, now im ridin neons. Yes Dro, you are riding neons, we've got that. I can see for myself the colors of your cars. Now please, move on. You've already heard the good, this Dro, is just dirt.
